It is high Summer and the first harvest is upon us! ☀️🌽
Please come to our celebration of Lughnasa. We'll be in the Grove, behind the church, enjoying the warmth of summer surrounded by the trees.
The Irish god Lugh is honored at the time of the first harvest, and is said to have founded this festival. He was called "the many skilled". Lughnasa is the funeral games Lugh hosted in honor of his foster-mother Tailtiu after her death in clearing the plains of Ireland for agriculture.
As a symbolic placeholder, please consider bringing a small, locally harvested item purchased from a store, at a farmers' market, or even from your own garden. We'll have a place for them in the circle.
If you have a poem or song to share, please bring it. Musical talent is always welcome. Perhaps we'll have a drum circle.
As always, you're invited to stay after for snacks, games, music and general camaraderie. If you bring any food, please label it for any dietary restrictions or allergens.
