The 2026 Lucas Oil 500 Festival Parade (formerly known as the AES 500 Festival Parade) is one of the nation’s largest and most celebrated floral and entertainment processions. Held annually the day before the Indianapolis 500, it marks its 70th anniversary in 2026 with the theme "Racing Through History."

2026 Special Highlights

  • 70th Anniversary: As the 70th edition, the parade will feature retrospective floats and "Racing Through History" displays honoring seven decades of Indy 500 culture.
  • All 33 Indy 500 Drivers: This is the only event where you can see the entire starting grid of the Indianapolis 500 together before race day.
  • Balloons & Floats: Massive helium-filled character balloons and multi-story floral floats.

Ticketing & Viewing Options

General Admission (Free): Most of the route is open to the public for free viewing. Spectators typically line the curbs 2–3 layers deep.

Reserved Seating: For those who prefer a guaranteed view, tickets for reserved bleacher and chair seating are available.

  • Price Range: Typically $25 – $40.
  • Where to Buy: Only at the official 500Festival.com website to ensure authenticity.

Digital Tickets: 2026 marks the full transition to digital ticketing for entry, though commemorative physical tickets can be purchased as souvenirs.

Essential Visitor Tips

  • Parking: Use the Gate Ten Events & Parking lots or the downtown garages (Circle Centre Mall, etc.). Note that many streets intersecting the route will close as early as 8:00 AM.

  • Public Transit: IndyGo often runs special routes; check their schedule for "Race Weekend" service adjustments.

  • Prohibited Items: Large coolers, glass containers, and pets (unless service animals) are generally discouraged or restricted in the ticketed bleacher areas for safety.

  • Television: If you can't attend, the parade is broadcast locally on WTHR and nationally on NBC or Peacock (check local listings for the 2026 broadcast window).
