The West Baton Rouge Museum is pleased to collaborate with visiting watercolor artist, Katherine Klimitas to offer a fun summer escape in the form of an evening art workshop on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 6 PM. Join us for a tropical evening of watercolor fun at our Luau Paint Party! Paint one of her original flamingo watercolor designs with step-by-step instruction and enjoy island vibes, snacks, and drinks. No experience needed, all supplies included, and Hawaiian-inspired outfits are encouraged! Katherine Klimitas is a New Orleans–based watercolor artist and the founder of KAK Art & Designs. Known for her vibrant, expressive pet and wildlife portraits, her work focuses on capturing personality, movement, and the emotional connection between people and the animals they love.
A wheelchair user with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Katherine brings a deep sense of resilience and joy to everything she creates. Rather than letting limitations define her, she channels her life experience into art that celebrates perseverance, individuality, and life’s small, meaningful moments. Through custom commissions, limited-edition prints, workshops, and public speaking, Katherine shares her belief that creativity is for everyone—and that joy is always worth chasing.
