Tell Your Parents That Graphic Novels ARE Real Books!Presented by: Latesha Dickson
Abstract:This talk focuses on the stigma around graphic novels in contrast to other forms of storytelling. In my time working in the library, I have seen parents discourage their children from picking up graphic novels and stating that they aren’t “real books.” Not only are graphic novels real books but they also can be used as tools to improve literacy amongst children. This talk will show that imagery isn’t just for picture books.
