Beyond the Stigma: Exposing the Resilience Trap and the social, cultural & generational pressures impacting Black and Brown youth.
About this Event

The Loving Yourself Symposium (LYS) Youth Suicide Prevention will focus on the social, cultural, and generational pressures impacting our children. We will explore and discuss how these expectations can influence their identity, emotional well-being, decision-making, and willingness to seek support.

Our goal is not only to raise awareness of these challenges but also to equip young people with practical tools to build resilience, develop a healthy sense of identity and purpose, and navigate expectations without compromising their mental and emotional well-being.

Three breakout sessions are led to provide an engaging, judgment-free environment where youth can participate in meaningful conversations, interactive activities, and age-appropriate mental health education. Each session will approach the overall theme from a different perspective while reinforcing the importance of self-awareness, emotional wellness, resilience, and help-seeking.
