Love is the Medicine: A Backyard Gathering // Mini Festival
About this Event
Years ago while sitting in a sacred ceremony, I was contemplating on how to deepen my relationship with myself, my loved ones, and this Great Web of Life.
The phrase "Love is the Medicine," alongside a healing vocal frequency, was gifted to me by a sacred plant ally. I then sent it to my own heart, and to all of those that I loved. To all of those that hurt me. To all of those that I mistakenly hurt. A great sense of relief dissolved from my body, and there-in lied a moment of freedom and peace I had been longing for.
That's when I remembered the power of Love, and what its medicine can do to support a hurting world.
Love is also what we owe the parts of ourselves we exiled — the ones too loud, too tender, too much for the rooms we grew up in. When we finally turn toward them instead of casting them further out, what was severed comes home, and we remember we were whole all along.
And now, five years later, I feel called to share this message more broadly.
This Labor Day weekend, we're gathering in the backyard at Dvâra to build a small world where love gets to be the center of gravity and that each offering is built around. Music. Cacao. Sound. Fire Ceremony. Healing Arts. All of it in service of one remembering: Love is what you are. And when we share that love through our artistry, it can create lasting change for our personal, ancestral and collective lives.
Threading through the backyard cedars, you can expect a line-up of live music and poetry from Dune Moss, Alexa & The Folk, Sara Tone, Ben Larsen, Christine Marie & Josh Foxen. Tea service shared by Earth & Ether. Food and herbal elixirs shared by Los Hongos. A fire ceremony led by Jillian Gibson. And a marketplace with merch, intuitive healing arts, and mini workshops.
Through music, art, movement, and ceremony we are creating a field of remembrance.
