Meet at Broadbank Car Park, Louth LN11 OEQ at 10.30am.
Bob Maddams, Louth Museum Volunteer will guide a walk around Louth highlighting the interesting buildings and diversity of people that make up the history and heritage of this intriguing market town.
The walk will last around 90 minutes and finish at the Museum. There will be a break of 1 x hour for lunch. Picnics can be eaten in nearby Spout Yard Park with seating, or alternatively there are several local cafes.
Reconvene at 1.00pm at The Museum
The Museum is located in the centre of Louth with a wide variety of interesting and informative displays. These include a range of artefacts either manufactured and/or used in Louth. Also on show is the amazing Louth Panorama by William Brown which depicts a ‘bird’s eye’ view of Louth on a day in summer in1840. The museum houses a nationally significant display of wood carvings by Thomas Wilkinson Wallis. Presentations also include natural history, geology and archaeology.
‘Waging Peace in Lincolnshire: Then and Now’
As part of the SLHA visit, the special exhibition will be introduced by Prof. Richard Keeble, Exhibition Curator. The exhibition highlights the frequently unrecognised role of the peace movement in Lincolnshire (more commonly known as ‘Bomber County’)
