Competition Information
Limited to 35 Boats
Registration
Registration is mandatory and must be completed by email:

Once registration has been confirmed, teams will be asked to pay a €25 deposit to secure their place in the competition. The deposit covers the measuring board and hi-vis jacket provided for the event and is not included in the entry fee.
The deposit will be refunded at the end of the competition once the measuring board and hi-vis jacket have been returned to the designated collection point. Hi-vis jacket has to be worn by one angler all all times during the competition!

A WhatsApp group will be created for all registered competitors. This group will be used for event updates, registration details, competition information, and sector maps.

Schedule
Registration & Collection
Registration, measuring board collection, and hi-vis jacket collection will take place from:
7:15am – 8:40am
The registration point will be announced in the WhatsApp group.
Competition Times
Start: 9:00am
Finish: 5:00pm
Fishing must stop at 5:00pm sharp. No fish recorded after 5:00pm will count.
All measuring boards and hi-vis jackets must be returned by 5:15pm to receive your deposit refund.
Live Scoring
The competition will use the FishDonkey mobile app for real-time scoring, as used successfully at:
Lough Derg Predator Challenge (2020–2025)
Lough Ree Predator Challenge (2021–2025)
Pike Master Ireland (2020–2025)
Lough Derg Perch Bonanza (2023 - 2026)
App Requirements
The FishDonkey app requires access to:
Mobile data
GPS location

The app is free to download from:

Scoring Format
The winning score is based on the combined length of each team's:
3 longest fish
Bonus
Teams that successfully catch all three species will receive an additional 100cm bonus.
Tie Break
If two or more teams finish with the same total length, the FishDonkey app timestamp will determine the winner.
Eligible Fish
Minimum qualifying lengths:
Pike: 60cm
Trout: 30cm
Perch: 25cm
Measurements are recorded in whole centimetres only.
Example:
A fish measuring 75.5cm will be recorded as 75cm.
Competition Rules
General
Anglers must fish in teams of two (maximum 2 anglers per boat).
Juniors have to be accompanied by an adult (still only 2 anglers in boat)
Boats must be big lakes worthy and free from pollution discharge.
All fish must be measured, photographed, recorded on the app, and released immediately.
A team identification card (provided by organisers) must be visible in all submission photos.
A short video showing the safe release of the fish must also be uploaded.
Permitted Methods
Artificial lures only.
Fly fishing is permitted using artificial flies only.
Trolling is permitted (maximum 2 rods per boat).
Prohibited Methods
Dead bait.
Worms.
Minnows.
Ground baiting.
Baited hooks of any kind.
Equipment
Each boat must carry:
A landing net.
Unhooking pliers or forceps.
Competitors may carry multiple rods but may only fish with:
One rod per angler at any time.
Maximum two rods in use per boat.
Fish finders may be used.
Foul-hooked fish will not count.
Boat Spacing
Competitor boats must remain:
At least 50 metres from another competitor boat.
At least 100 metres from non-competitor/local boats.
Safety
Lifejackets must be worn by all anglers at all times.
Each boat should include at least one experienced boat operator.
Anglers are not permitted to enter in the water .All competitors should familiarise themselves with the "14 Steps to Safe Boating" (www.iws.ie).
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the competition may be postponed or cancelled.
Where the event proceeds, anglers are responsible for their own safety.
In case of difficulty while on the water engine issue boat taking water or sickness, anglers must contact RNLI, don't hesitate to ring 999 and ask for RLNI and explain what issues you have!

Fishing Sector
All boats must fish within the designated competition sector.
• A sector map will be provided via WhatsApp.
• The sector begins at Coosan Point.
• Any team found fishing outside the designated sector will have their results disqualified.
Practice sessions on the FishDonkey app will be available prior to the competition.

Environmental Responsibility
To help prevent the spread of invasive species, all boats, trailers, and equipment should be inspected and cleaned before attending the event.

Penalties
Any team found breaking competition rules may be penalised by having their longest fish removed from their final score.
All decisions will be supported by photographic and video evidence submitted to the organisers before results are published.

• Deposits will only be refunded when all issued equipment (measuring board and hi-vis jacket) is returned.
• If a team withdraws after paying the deposit, the deposit will not be refunded.
• All entry fees must be paid before the event.
• No refunds will be issued after
