The scene continues, but with a shouty quality to it. The delicate nuances and the sense of intimacy gone, out of the window. But at least we can hear you now, right?

This workshop is dedicated to those who are tired to shout, but want their murmours to be heard. We will revisit familiar improv principles through the lense of spoken Voice practices.

We are going to look into how the voice works, how to overall increase the volume of our voice in a sustainable way, which vocal qualities work against or in favour of volume and why.

We are also going to see how understanding how the voice works can help support our improv skills.

Voice: After graduating in both Acting and Literature in Italy, I moved to London to specialize in Voice. I hold an MFA in Voice Studies: Teaching and Coaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I have been based in England since 2018, where I have been teaching Voice and Text for Performance in various schools, conservatories and universities (e.g. ArtsEd, IDSA Identity School of Acting, Fourth Monkey, UAL, St Mary's University in Twickenham, Emil Dale, Italia Conti...). At the same time, I coach professionals from both the world of performance and entertainment, and from more corporate contexts.

Improv: I have been training and performing Improv since 2016, in Italy with "I Bugiardini" at first, and then in London with Hoopla Impro since 2018. Since 2019, I am also founder and co-director of ISL - Improv as a Second Language, a community for improvisers who speak English as a Second, Additional and/or Foreign Language. I have begun teaching, hosting jams and hosting shows for Hoopla Impro in early 2022. I regularly perform with, among others, Rumourville.
