Prolific NWI Times reporter, local history author, & U.S. Army veteran Joseph S. Pete will return to present to the Hammond Historical Society on Sat, Nov. 1st @ 10:00am in the Community Room of the Hammond Public Library. This will be the Society's last regularly scheduled program of 2025 -- don't miss it!
You may recognize him as a familiar face! He's presented multiple times to our Society in recent years -- on his comprehensively researched paperback of history & photos "Lost Hammond, Indiana" and on the 119-year history of The Hammond Times (aka Lake County Times aka Times of Northwest Indiana.) This time he will speak on Northwest Indiana, presenting his 192-page, hardcover travelogue book "Lost Treasures of Indiana." We've greatly enjoyed his talks in the past and cannot recommend his books enough! They are easy-to-digest yet very thorough! His books will be for sale after his presentation.

Region native Joseph S. Pete writes for The Times of Northwest Indiana, a job that’s taken him all around the South Shore. The author of Lost Hammond, Indiana," "Lost East Chicago, Indiana," and "100 Things to Do in Gary and Northwest Indiana Before You Die," Pete is a frequent guest on Lakeshore Public Radio and has twice as many first names as the average person. His many accolades include Lisagor Awards, SPJ Awards and a calculator he won at a Hammond Civic Center circus raffle.
