We are thrilled to announce we will be presenting the North American Premier of the award-winning LOST LEAR by Irish writer/director Dan Colley this February 13-15 for 4 shows at Villanova’s Mullen Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are on sale now! Lost Lear, which toured all over Ireland to sold out audiences, is an award-winning innovative and powerful contemporary rewrite of Shakespeare’s play, King Lear, telling the story of Joy, a retired actor with dementia who is reliving her memory of rehearsing
the Shakespearean tragedy. At Joy’s nursing home, the staff facilitate her care by acting out her happy memories, but Joy’s delicately maintained reality is upended by the arrival of her son. Lost Lear is a thought-provoking exploration of memory, dementia and the unconventional possibilities of human communication. Dan Colley and Company are based in Dublin, Ireland.
Discounted tickets are available for students, groups and community partners. Contact the Center for Irish Studies for more info at [email protected] (or message us on FB)
