The film room will be showing films that fit our theme, thanks to Thomas Safer and Mike Wilson.
Loscon GIVES BACK! Loscon is the primary fundraiser for the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society (www.lasfs.org). It has been for the past 51 years.
However, we like to give back to organizations that support our community, and this year, it is BADASS – Browncoat Auxiliary Depression & Anxiety Support System. BADASS is a group of fans, like you, who are here to help you across that great divide. Whether you need an ear to listen, arms to lift you, or a heart to accept you for who you are, we are here to make sure that you get what you need. We offer a safe space free of judgment, where you can be yourself and be with people who understand and are here to help. If you seek us out, you are already the strongest person we know. Loscon wants you to be amazing.
As we did with the Cancer Society, there will be an auction during Loscon. Please bring your gently used genre items to the convention. In a future message, we will announce a drop-off location for all items. The Loscon 52 memorial wall is back: 52 years of memories of those we’ve loved and lost. This year, we are putting together a memorial wall for viewing at the Art Show. If you have pictures of your LASFS/Loscon loved ones, we invite you to bring them to Loscon. We will display them. We will also have cards and decorating supplies so that you can leave tributes throughout the convention. We will watch our wall grow with the love of those who may have left this realm, but not our hearts. Death does not release us from membership.
