About this Event
A discussion with Richard Ludt, IRS Demolition’s Director of Environmental Affairs to discuss sustainability in the demolition process of construction. With the construction industry as one of the largest producers of solid waste, we will learn insights on how to think more sustainably throughout the entire design process from decommissioning, salvaging, take back programs and upcycling.
Richard Ludt is the Director of Environmental Affairs for Interior Removal Specialist, Inc. IRS Demo is a fully integrated demolition contractor that also operates the only RCI Certified C&D Facility in Southern California. With nearly 25 years of experience, Richard is responsible for complying with California’s heavily regulated C&D recycling requirements, as well as all permitting and legislative issues. Richard has worked with the California Department of General Services to write building code and is currently working on legislation to increase transparency in the California C&D industry.
Richard served for 12 years on the board of the Solid Waste Association of North America as the Corporate Director for Recycling and Material Recovery, as well as 6 years on the board of USGBC Los Angeles. He currently chairs the Legislative Committee for the Construction and Demolition Recycling Association, where he also sits on the board.
