Fridays (& Sundays) are Lorcana days inside The Pack Rack. Every second Friday of the month is reserved for Lorcana Constructed: Single Franchise format.
The Lorcana Single Franchise format is a casual, player-created constructed format where every card in a deck must belong to a single Disney franchise (e.g., Frozen, The Lion King, Aladdin, Moana). Unlike the standard Core Constructed format, this format prioritizes thematic storytelling and deck-building restrictions over competitive optimization.
Key Rules of the Single Franchise Format:
Deck Restrictions: All cards (characters, songs, actions, items, and locations) must originate from the same chosen Disney franchise.
"Lorcana" Exception: Often, generic "Lorcana-original" cards (such as Chromicons or Sensor Cores) are allowed to fill out decks, as they are not tied to a specific movie.
Deck Size: Typically a 60-card minimum, similar to constructed rules.
Ink Limitation:
While sometimes played with standard 2-ink color restrictions, many players remove color limits to allow for more thematic combinations, relying solely on the franchise restriction.
Card Limits: Standard rules of up to 4 copies of any card are usually maintained.
Key Characteristics:
Theme > Power: This format is designed for fun and casual play, focusing on building a deck that feels like it belongs in the movie.
Challenging Deck Building: It requires creativity because a single franchise might not have enough cards for key mechanics like ramp or draw, forcing players to find workarounds.
Variety: This format encourages playing with cards that are rarely used in the competitive.
Variations of the Format:
Double Feature (or Double Feature Franchise): A popular variation that allows players to combine cards from up to two different Disney franchises.
Villains/Heroes/Stories (VHS): A structured version that focuses on themes and allows access to all six ink colors for, say, a dedicated Aladdin or Lion King deck.
Single Franchise Draft: Players draft cards, but must end up with a deck that adheres to the franchise limitation.
As with other TCGs hosted and supported by the shop, Lorcana will have it's own League play point structure for "seasonal" play. Points accumulate over a select period of time, with top point earners winning store credit payout. Most seasons run from the release of one set to the release of another. See shop for more details.
