✨ A Special Art Moment in Gulgong ✨We first met Rod Spicer during the June long weekend at a friend’s concert. He introduced himself with a warm smile and said how much he loved our building—and that he would love to display a couple of his paintings here. We knew he was an artist and musician, but we had no idea just how incredible he and his work truly are!
Rod shared that Gulgong holds a special place in his heart. It’s his father’s and grandparents’ hometown, and every visit brings back memories and a deep connection to the area. Any excuse to return makes him happy—and lucky for us, it brought him to our space.
After months of conversations, shared works, and a little bit of magic, Rod’s art is finally coming to life in our building. We feel truly humbled and honoured to host this first exhibition in our historic space, now home to Intuition Music School & Goodies Gulgong.
Though it’s a small exhibition, it’s a heartfelt prelude to Rod’s upcoming solo show at a regional art gallery in 2027. Through his paintings, you’ll encounter love, nostalgia, longing, and a profound respect for the land—captured through his eyes and his hands. Each piece evokes the emotions and stories of the Australian landscape, seen through Rod’s heart and craft.

About Rod Spicer
Rod Spicer has lived in the Manning Valley for many years and is well known for his beautiful paintings of the local area, from the bush to the coast. Exhibiting regularly in the Hunter Valley and Sydney, his works are included in many private and corporate collections.
Rod Spicer's contemporary works encapsulate the light, beauty and mood of the Australian landscape.
Reminiscent of Streeton or McCubbin, the canvases of lush paint, fluid brushstrokes and striking colour evoke admiration and awe of our natural landscape. Rod's mastery of his medium is evident with bold use of colour, capturing the mood and light of the changing times and seasons. Spicer's works transcend time and explore the mythology of landscape, often stirring sensations and emotions in the viewer.
