Long Beach Candlelight Meditation

This inspiring and family-friendly, open-air event on the beach is an opportunity to cultivate inner peace. Although centered around a meditation guided by a Buddhist monk, the event does not promote any particular spiritual views. Please dress warmly as the beach can get quite cool after sundown. Please bring your own seating i.e. beach chairs, towels, beach blanket. Public restrooms in close proximity. For more details, see the schedule below.

Location: Between Granada Beach and the Kite Beach ramp. Look for the monk in bright orange robes, you can’t miss him. There is free parking in the LaVerne Ave. lot after 6 pm. There is also parking in the 54th St. lot but please note it is a pay lot until 8 pm.

Dress code: Please cover shoulders, low necklines, midriffs, and knees to show respect to the teaching monk.

Ticket Options:

This event is free of charge. However, all the costs of materials including candles, lighters, transport of equipment, food, drink and other expenses involved in running these events are supported by donations from others. If you would like to pay forward the generosity of the donors who have come before you and enabled us to run a free event, you can become a “Pay It Forward Patron” by selecting that ticket option, or you can donate a different amount by choosing the donation option. But if your situation does not allow for a donation, then it is completely fine to select the free option. Thank you for your kindness that will enable us to sustainably offer these types of free events into the future.

Schedule:

6:00 pm - Arrive a little in advance to register, mingle, check out the complimentary snacks and refreshments, and find a seat or help prime the candles.

6:30 pm - Welcome message. Brief introduction to meditation for newcomers. The lighting of candles before sitting for a guided meditation, followed by spreading of loving-kindness, sharing, and positive energy to the whole world to promote world peace through inner peace.

7:30 pm - Parting words. Group photo and photo op beneath the night sky an (Instagrammable) moment on the beach of candlelight or the chance to mingle or the chance to get snacks or find out more from the organizers at the registration desk. Safe trip home.
