Act 1
Set in 1904, this act reimagines a legislative hearing during which the Day Law was enacted. Sponsored by a Breathitt County representative, this legislation prohibited the integrated education of black and white students in Kentucky schools.
Act 2
In the year 1919, the stage comes alive during a Fourth of July celebration honoring Sargent Willie Sandlinβa Breathitt County native and World War I Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. The act features both renowned and lesser-known figures from local and state history.
Act 3
Taking us to 1957, this act follows Jerry Deaton as he prepares to leave Longs Creek for college in North Carolina. It poignantly captures the end of an era, marking the close of traditional hillside farming in rural Kentucky.
Act 4
Set in modern-day Kentucky just over the Breathitt line in Buckhorn, this act depicts a casual yet thoughtful conversation among four individuals at Sparks Store, reflecting on their lives and the ongoing changes in their community.
We look forward to welcoming you to an evening of historical reflection and dramatic storytelling.
