The sweeping plains of the Old West will be our next destination as we head towards our 'thick book of the year' selection. We chose McMurtry's highly regarded novel as it should be a masterfully woven tale that blends traditional Western adventures and mishaps with an eye on themes such as the fading of this world as well as the deep wounds inflicted on its native inhabitants.
