What is LUSS XVI?

The London University Submission Showdown is back for its 16th edition and its 2nd year, hosted by Goldsmiths MMA Society. This is London's biggest inter-varsity No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament, bringing together university competitors from across Greater London and beyond to compete on the mats for medals, trophies, and serious bragging rights.

If you have never watched live BJJ before, prepare to be hooked. Fast, technical, physical, and electric, there is nothing quite like watching two grapplers battle it out on the mat in front of a live crowd.

Live BJJ Matches All Day Watch university competitors go head to head across multiple weight classes and experience divisions in a Round Robin format. Every competitor fights multiple times, meaning you get action from start to finish.

Novice Division Cheer on first-time competitors stepping onto the mat for the very first time in their grappling journey. Raw, exciting, and full of heart.

Intermediate Division Watch more experienced grapplers battle it out with sharper technique, slicker submissions, and higher intensity matches.

Great Atmosphere

This is a university event run by students for students. Expect a loud, passionate, and welcoming crowd. Whether you know BJJ or have never seen it before, you will leave having had a great time.

Goldsmiths is easily accessible by public transport.

By Overground: New Cross Gate station is a 2-minute walk from the venue. By Bus: Multiple bus routes stop directly outside the university. By Tube: New Cross Gate is served by the London Overground from Canada Water and Whitechapel.

Doors open at 1:30 PM. We recommend arriving early to get a good spot and soak up the pre-match atmosphere as competitors weigh in and warm up.

There are no refreshments served inside the venue; however, there is a wide selection of restaurants and a Sainsbury's Local all within a 3-minute walk of the Great Hall.

Prayer Facilities are available on site: Male Prayer Room: Room 2.106 Female Prayer Room: Room 2.107 If you cannot find either room, please ask one of our organisers on the day and they will be happy to guide you.

These are spectator tickets only. Purchasing a ticket here does not register you as a competitor. Fighter spots are managed exclusively via Smoothcomp.

Your ticket guarantees your entry as a spectator for the full day of competition on 29th April 2026.

⚠️ Please note that the event schedule, match timings, and any additional entertainment or appearances on the day are subject to change due to circumstances outside of our control. Any performers, guests, or acts listed as part of the event programme are subject to change, and the organiser reserves the right to modify or cancel any such appearances without notice. This does not affect your right to attend the event as a spectator.

Spectator tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organiser. In the event of a full cancellation, all ticket holders will receive a full refund.
