Alongside her artistic career, Ortega pursued an international academic path, earning an Integrated Master's degree (MSci) in Physics in the United Kingdom after beginning her higher education in France. This interdisciplinary background informs her creative practice with curiosity, precision, and a constant spirit of exploration.
Since 2016, she has created and toured her own productions, including RAÍCES, a finalist at the Madroño Young Dance Creators Competition (Madrid, 2022), and La Rebeldía del Silencio, which earned her a nomination for Best Female Dancer at the 2024 Seville Stage Awards.
From 2022 to 2024, she was selected by the Embassy of Spain to represent flamenco across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, becoming the first flamenco dance company to perform in Bhutan. She has appeared at major international festivals including Suma Flamenca, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the Copenhagen World Music Festival, as well as prestigious venues such as Teatros del Canal (Madrid), the Armenian National Opera, London Jazz Café, and Watford Palace Theatre.
In recent years, she has expanded her international presence through the Flamenco from Spain tour, co-produced with composer and guitarist Ramón Ruiz, touring England, Wales, and Ireland, with more than 100 performances scheduled for 2026. Her artistic versatility has also led to collaborations with the legendary La Tati, the fusion band Patáx, and the contemporary flamenco-circus production Rendez-vous alongside Villads Bugge Bang.
Through her ongoing dialogue between tradition and innovation, Rebeca Ortega has established herself as one of the most compelling emerging voices in contemporary flamenco.
