London Early Onset Colorectal Cancer Research Symposium

The London Early Onset Colorectal Cancer Research Symposium is a one-day, in-person event, bringing together researchers, clinicians, early-career researchers and patient advocates to explore why early onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) is increasing and how we can improve its prevention, detection and treatment.

The programme will span the biology and mechanisms of EOCRC, risk factors and early detection, screening challenges, and the interactions between the microbiome, immune system and environment. Alongside invited and keynote speakers, the day will showcase new research through selected oral presentations and posters, with dedicated opportunities for networking, discussion and meeting speakers.

A highlight of the symposium will be our ECR Dragon's Den, giving early-career researchers the opportunity to pitch bold, innovative early-stage research ideas to a panel of experts. We want to hear the ideas that could open new directions in EOCRC research, including concepts that may not yet have the preliminary data or traditional track record required for conventional funding. Selected researchers will pitch their idea live, with an award for the winning proposal.

The programme will also include a PROSPECT session exploring inclusive and diverse recruitment to research, and a media-facing panel considering how collaboration, data sharing, patient involvement, funding and infrastructure can accelerate progress in EOCRC prevention and treatment.

Awards will be presented for the best oral presentation, poster and Dragon's Den pitch, and the symposium will conclude with informal drinks and networking.
