Join us for a Christmas 14 mile walk though London. Starting in Greenwich and finishing in the West End.Tickets for this event cost £25.00. This payment is non-refundable. It will only be refunded in the event of a non-weather related cancellation. *Tickets/spaces for this walk/event are pre booked and pre paid, please don't just turn up on the day with cash*
Steven Massey Hiking Tours Christmas drinks this year will be the night before in the Greenwich area (details to follow). So try to get accommodation in or around the Greenwich area if you are planning to stay the night before the walk.
On the Sunday morning of the walk we will meet outside Greenwich Station at 9am.
From there it is a short walk into Greenwich Park and up the hill, famous for the Observatory and GMT. The reason I am bringing you here is because in my humble opinion the view over looking London from here is the best view in London. You can tell me if you agree on the day. We will then walk down into Greenwich, walk through the grounds of the beautiful Maritime museum and have a look at the Cutty Sark.
We will then cross the Thames by going under the little known foot tunnel, the only pedestrian tunnel under the Thames.
We will then follow the Thames Path on the northern side for a few miles through the Docklands, Canary Wharf, Wapping and St Katherines Dock before reaching the Tower of London.
After that we will cross the iconic Tower Bridge before walking on the side of the Thames for a few miles. Highlights of this stretch will include HMS Belfast, London Eye , Tate Modern, great views of St Pauls and lots of Christmas markets/stalls along the embankment.
When we reach Westminster Bridge we will cross it to explore the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben etc.
We then have two options then depending on time. We can either carry on along the Thames for a llittle while and come up into the West End via Chelsea and Hyde Park or from Westminster we can head into the West End via Trafalgar Square.
I am planning to get a return train into London. Arriving Saturday and departing straight after the walk Sunday.
The Christmas drinks on the Saturday evening and the start of the walk on the Sunday will both be Greenwich so try and get accommodation in that area.
