About this Event
Join us at Flynn’s for a proper deep dive into the Loire Valley — one of France’s most varied, exciting wine regions, and a goldmine for anyone who loves wines with freshness, character and a real sense of place.
This tasting is more technical than our usual evenings, designed for people who want to understand why a Muscadet tastes like Muscadet, what separates Bonnezeaux from Montlouis, and how sub-zones, soil and microclimate can completely change the glass. We’ll explore the Loire by region → appellation → sub-appellation, with plenty of time for questions, comparisons, and “aha” moments.
That said, no snobbery, no exams, and no one gets left behind. If you’re curious and enjoy learning while you drink, you’ll be right at home.
What we’ll cover
- A guided overview of the Loire from west to east (and why it matters)
- Key regions and appellations (with a focus on what to look for on labels)
- Sub-appellations and villages: what they signal, and when they’re worth seeking out
- Grapes & styles (think Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc — plus the surprises)
- Terroir & technique: soils, climate, élevage, sweetness levels, and texture
- How to taste with intention: structure, acid, phenolics, balance, ageing potential
- Pairing ideas you can actually use at home (without overcomplicating it)
Format
- Seated, guided tasting
- Approx. 2 hours
- A focused flight of Loire wines selected to show contrast by place and style
- Plenty of chat, questions encouraged, and a relaxed Flynn’s atmosphere throughout
If you want a tasting that feels like a mini masterclass — but still friendly, warm and fun — this one’s for you.
