Locker Room Talk or: How to Survive in a "Straight" Man's World
About this Event
The answer to this question lies at Bloomfield High School, where the Patriarchy lives everywhere but it breeds in the locker room with every insult flung, punch thrown, and mom disrespected. In this seemingly familiar space among other students in the locker room, a relationship blossoms between Henry and Payton.
Henry is a bench warmer on the school's football team while Payton is the star quarterback and the locker room offers a volatile and violent backdrop for this chaotic but lovable relationship. Henry must decide what's more important to him as the relationship boils over into something that neither Henry, or Payton can control. As their homecoming dance approaches, this relationship will face its toughest test yet. The aftermath of the dance has the power to destroy either of them and ultimately, it'll be up to each of them to decide who gets thrown under the bus.
"Locker Room Talk or: How to Survive in a 'Straight' Man's World" voyeuristically depicts this space riddled with mystique and paints a picture of a modern-day origin story of misogyny, homophobia, and the extension of American patriarchy.
