LOCAL RESISTANCE CINEMA Evening

Join us for an evening of local short films – celebrating voices of resistance, local activism, and community spirit.

PART 3 of our LOCAL RESISTANCE FILM PROGRAMME.

Join us for food, and the feature documentary film Tish, followed by Q & A with the director Paul Sng and local photographer Craig Maclean.

In the third of four special events, we celebrate working class photographer Tish Murtha and her incredible ground breaking work. Tish Murtha used her camera to celebrate overlooked working-class lives and to fight for social change in 1980s Britain. Her daughter, Ella, uncovers her poignant story.

This is a free event, presented by Royston Wardieburn Community Centre's Arts & Culture group and the NEA Film Group for Local Cinema Network's programme "LOCAL RESISTANCE", which includes events in Wester Hailes, Craigmillar and Leith, September - December 2025

These events are part of Art For Grown Ups' wider, Creative Resistance Project in collaboration with National Galleries of Scotland and Royston Wardieburn Arts & Culture Group. Look out for our exhibition at the Portrait Gallery in November, social history displays in the NEA Cafe and a celebration event on 4th December at NEA.
