Join Eddie Ephraums and Matt Maran for an inspiring day of photography, picture editing and bookmaking at North London's iconic Highgate Cemetery and at Eddie's home studio.

This unique workshop offers the chance to connect with history and nature through photography, and leave with a beautiful hand-made fold out book showcasing your images.

Open to beginners and keen amateurs alike, the workshop provides guidance on photography, developing ideas, creating a sequence of images, printing, and binding your images in book form. Too often, photos linger unseen on hard drives – this hands-on experience takes you through the process of making a beautifully presented printed book.

From intricate carvings on gravestones and close-ups of plant life, to architecture and individual stories of the departed, Highgate Cemetery offers endless inspiration for creative photography.

The workshop will be split in to two sessions:

  1. Photography at the Cemetery
In this atmospheric location, you’ll receive guidance on both the technical and creative aspects of photography. We’ll encourage you to explore a specific theme and start telling a story through your images, with personalised support to refine your skills and vision.

  1. Bookmaking at Eddie’s Studio
Back in Eddie’s home studio in Golders Green, we’ll delve into the editing process, focusing on image selection, sequencing, and preparing your photographs for print. You'll learn how to process your images to ensure they are print-ready and then move on to the practical art of bookmaking. Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own hand-bound book, mastering techniques like creasing, trimming, and folding. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a unique, self-made photo book to showcase your work.
