Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) is excited to announce the honorees of the 2025 Lobo Legends Celebration set for March 15 2025 at the Monterey Marriott. This signature event will celebrate four categories of honorees: a distinguished alumni an outstanding alumni athlete a distinguished retiree and a rising star—all of whom exemplify MPC’s spirit and values. Each has made exceptional contributions to MPC and the broader community inspiring both current and future generations of students.

“We received a tremendous number of submissions after inviting our community to nominate deserving candidates earlier this year” shared Beccie Michael MPC Foundation Executive Director and Vice President of Advancement. “Each nomination represented an inspiring individual with a strong commitment to MPC and our community. Selecting the 2025 honorees was a challenging process but we’re thrilled to celebrate these five remarkable individuals next spring.”

The 2025 Lobo Legends Celebration will recognize:

David Fales former NFL quarterback is celebrated for his accomplishments on the football field and his continued support of MPC student athletes. After an impressive collegiate career at San Jose State University where he led the Spartans to an 11-win season Fales was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2014. Known for his work ethic and determination Fales played for several NFL teams and retired in 2020. Today he resides in Arizona with his wife and children returning regularly to MPC as a guest speaker inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Distinguished Retiree: Homer Bosserman (posthumous award)

The late Homer Bosserman who was a revered Astronomy professor at MPC dedicated over 50 years to the college teaching an extraordinary 102 semesters. An MIT and Cal Berkeley alumnus Bosserman’s profound impact on students extended beyond the classroom as he remained connected to his students long after they left MPC. His legacy as an instructor mentor and donor lives on in the Astronomy/Physics and Athletics programs. Bosserman contributed over $84000 to support MPC facilities equipment and student-athletes.

Rising Star: Luis “Daniel” Garcia

Luis “Daniel” Garcia a first-generation college graduate overcame significant challenges to become an inspiring example of resilience and success. Raised by a single mother in Greenfield California Daniel’s journey began at MPC where he excelled academically and served as a mentor through MPC’s First-Year Experience program. Supported by the Evans College Incentive Program Daniel earned a BS in Economics from UCSC and has built a meaningful career in outreach and safety management. His dedication to his community and promise-filled future make him a shining example of the Rising Star Award.

“The Lobo Legends Celebration honors the profound achievements of our alumni and the dedication of our retirees” said Dr. Marshall T. Fulbright MPC Superintendent/President. “Their success and their inspirational stories are a testament to our mission of providing a transformative education for all.”

The 2025 Lobo Legends Celebration promises to be a memorable evening honoring these inspiring individuals whose achievements and values represent the heart of MPC.
