LOBBY: The Crooked Stuff (SF) and DJ Sovern T
About this Event
The LOBBY series takes a sharp turn into the future of funk.
We are welcoming San Francisco's own The Crooked Stuff, a trio that has been described as existential discopunk for the people. Built at the intersection of DC hardcore, Bay Area psychedelic rock, and indie pop, the band features Tom Gorton on vocals, John Varn on synths and keys, and Nick DeRyss on drums.
Their sound is a heady blend of discopunk and electrofunk. Fans have called it like INXS injected into The Prodigy and somewhere between Gorillaz, Daft Punk, and TV on the Radio. They have shared stages with Tank and the Bangas, Fishbone, Monophonics, and Dumpstaphunk.
And keeping the energy high all night long, we have DJ Sovern-T. A decade-long force in West Coast and Hawaii music scenes, Sovern-T has opened for acts like Public Enemy, Jurassic 5, Black Eyed Peas, and Tribe Called Quest. He blends Hip-Hop, '80s, Funk and Soul, and Reggae into a sound so distinct it is simply called "Sovern."
This is a special night, so we are adding $10 presales on Eventbrite. Door tickets will be $15.
Come for the Friday Night Market. Stay for the LOBBY afterparty.
