Probably the most informal new music night in the world, the Leith New Music nights showcase works by emerging artists from all music and cultural backgrounds, performed by a curating music ensemble.

The Leith New Music # 5 proudly returns with an extraordinary blend of new music!
We are showcasing new works written for four instruments - Trumpet, Clarinet, Violin or Viola, and Cello by emerging artists. The composers are invited to write pieces that include theatrical instructions. The world premieres are performed by BARE - Bede Williams, Alex South, Robin Mason, and Emma Lloyd.
The night's main drag is a very special and rare performance of Cornelius Cardew's open graphical score TREATISE. We warmly invite YOU, the audience, to join BARE and the LNM Ensemble to play this graphical score, which will be projected on the screen on the night. It's a free open score, so anyone is welcome to rock up with ANY instrument and join us for a run-through at 6pm, and a perform with us at 9pm. It will probably be wild and fun! If you want to join us, do let us know in advance by email [email protected] by Friday 8 November. If you want to se an example performance of the piece see here. Miind you, we probably will sound nothing like it!

Of course, you are most welcomed not to play too. Go and treat yourself to a live surround sound of the very best experimental music experience Leith has to offer!
What's more, BARE will serenade us to a free improvisation set to mark the new unforeseen world we face in post-halloween, post-world-leader election Autumn. Chill or bare, we will respond by continuing to make the best music and have the best time.
The night concludes with a set by local DJ tbc.
