About this Event
We are delighted to offer a monthly series of Romance focused events to take place on the second Wednesday of every month. With a variety of events and many exciting authors in store, London Loves Stories will be a yearlong celebration of everything love and literature can offer!
When we speak of love, sometimes we are referring to a different kind of ‘Happily Ever After’, to self-love rather than soulmates. Love can be messy and complicated; join us for an evening looking at the intricacies of where Romance meets mental wellbeing.
We will be joined by authors Natasha Lunn, Emily Slapper and Lauren Bravo, as they discuss their latest books, and in doing so, dissect the relationship between love and the self.
Natasha Lunn is an author, journalist and featured director at Red magazine. Natasha’s bestselling debut book, Conversations on Love, grew out of the newsletter of the same name and was published in Spring 2021. The book combines personal essays and intimate, revealing conversations with authors and experts, as it asks; How do we find love? How do we sustain it? And how do we survive when we lose it?
Emily Slapper grew up in Northampton before studying Cinema and Photography at the University of Leeds. After graduating, she moved to London to work in advertising whilst hoping to one day become a screenwriter. But wanting to write films turned into wanting to write books, leading to a Creative Writing MA at Royal Holloway. Everyone I Know is Dying is her debut novel; a razor-sharp, bleakly funny exploration of mental health, societal pressures on young women, and toxic sexual and romantic relationships from one of the most exciting new literary voices.
Lauren Bravo is an author and award-winning journalist. She has written on a myriad of topics, including; fashion, food, pop culture, travel, feminism and life, for the Sunday Times Style, Grazia, Refinery29 UK, Cosmopolitan, Stylist, easyJet Traveller, Foodism, Delicious, The Telegraph and The Guardian. Her debut novel, Preloved, is a tale about friendship, loss and being true to yourself no matter the expectations. Probably Nothing, Lauren Bravo’s latest irresistibly witty novel, explores the relatable modern cults of wellness and people-pleasing, and digs into the eternal dilemma: life is short – so should you settle for perfectly fine?
