About this Event
Join us for a scenic winter adventure through one of Wales' most breathtaking landscapes! This guided walk explores the historic Castell Dinas Brân, the serene Horseshoe Falls, and the enchanting snowdrop-filled grounds of St Tysilio’s Church, with sweeping views of the Dee Valley throughout.
This 12.5 km circular route takes us along muddy, grassy, and uneven footpaths, offering a mix of history, nature, and panoramic vistas. We’ll also pass Valle Crucis Abbey and end back in Llangollen, where you can enjoy the town’s charming cafes, shops, and pubs.
Highlights:

Who will be your guide?
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Janire and I’m a qualified and insured Mountain Leader, based in Shropshire. I’m passionate about improving accessibility to the outdoors, and aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment to all. I look forward to meeting you!
What to bring:
- Boots or trainers with good grip (that you don’t mind getting muddy)
- Lunch and snacks
- I always like to take a flask of tea, but that’s entirely optional
- Rucksack - any backpack that will hold everything you need is suitable.
- Water (I'd recommend at least 1 litre)
- Waterproofs if rain is forecast
- Spare layers including gloves and a beanie - it can be cold on the exposed hills.
- A mini first aid kit and any personal Medic*tion
- You may find walking poles useful for this walk
Toilets:
There are public toilets in the town. You will have to embrace what we like to call a 'wild wee' if you need to go elsewhere. Luckily, the walk has a few hidden spots for this. If you need to go, just tell Janire and we'll give you time and space and some privacy. Remember to leave no trace!
Consent Form:
If you are booked onto the hike please fill in a CONSENT FORM no later than the 24 hours before. You will not be allowed to partake in the hike unless you have filled out this form.
Safety:
I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns - I'd be happy to chat through any worries before you sign up to the hike.
I am a fully qualified Mountain Leader and I hold a 16 hour Outdoor First Aid certificate so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.
Dogs:
We only accept dogs that are well-behaved and good around other dogs and strangers. If you bring your dog on a day hike, you are solely responsible for it, you must ensure it goes on the lead at appropriate times (around livestock, along roads and near cliff edges).
Refund Policy:
Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.
Terms:
By signing up to this event, you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions.
This event is for over 18's only.
