In the summer of 1892, Lizzie Borden was accused of killing her father and stepmother with an axe. Testimonies clashed, evidence fell apart, and Lizzie walked free. Lizzie: The Rock Musical dives into her turbulent mind and the forces that may have pushed her over the edge: abuse, oppression, money, and madness.
She is joined by her sister Emma, maid Bridget, and neighbor Alice. Together they unleash a fierce punk rock score that turns a bloody American legend into a full-throttle rock album.
And because Theatre Downtown loves a little chaos with its cheer, we are bringing this wild, axe-swinging musical to Birmingham at Christmastime. While everyone else is decking halls, we are sharpening axes!
