Richard Cambridge’s work has appeared in The Paterson Literary Review, Nantucket Journal, Asheville Poetry Review, and other publications. He is the author of a collection of poetry, PULSA—A Book of Books (Hanover Press), spoken word CDs One Shot News—Poetry of Conscience (Earthshine) and The Cigarette Papers—A Memoir of Addiction (Fern Hill), from which he developed a one-person play that opened at The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.
His awards include the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Prize and a finalist position at the Fine Arts Work Center. He was a member of the Boston National Championship Team (1992), and won the Master Slam in 1997. In 2000, he was voted Best Boston Performance Poet. In 2003, he received the Cambridge Peace & Justice Award for his contributions to the arts and activism.
He is a Fellow Emeritus at the Black Earth Institute, blackearthinstitute.org, which encourages awareness of the as a means of promoting a progressive, inclusively spiritual, and environmentally aware society. From 1995 – 2025, he curated the monthly series, Poets’ Theatre at Cambridge’s legendary Club Passim, 1995-2010, Somerville’s Arts at the Armory, 2010-2020, and the Zoom platform 08/30 Club.
He is the Reviews and Interviews Editor for the online journal Solstice Literary Magazine, solsticelitmag.org.
His current project is a collaboration with Swiss musician and singer-songwriter George Hennig, writing lyrics for the album Songs from the Crossing (Swan’s), released in March 2022, and they are now working on a new album.
