Step into the gallery for an immersive textile workshop inspired by the large-scale fibre sculptures of Heather Shillinglaw. Rooted in Indigenous medicinal plants and fungi from the Cold Lake region, her work explores the impacts of colonization on traditional practices.Surrounded by the exhibition, the experience begins with a smudging ceremony and introduction to the work, creating space for reflection and exchange. Guided by the artist, participants (18+) will create a mini quilted textile pin using hand sewing and beadwork.
Open to all experience levels. All materials provided, just bring your curiosity and creativity!
