About this Event
Living Legends of Drag showcases the art of drag performance as a unique form of cultural work that exists “between the lines” of diverse gender expressions, histories, and communities.
This multi-generational performance and panel discussion features an iconic group of drag kings and queens whose performances span six decades, including El Daña (the Guinness World Records' certified oldest performing drag king), Mo B. Dick (Drag King History), "Mother" Karina Samala (Imperial Court of Los Angeles and Hollywood), Jazzmun (Peanuts), and Manny Oakley (LA Drag Archive)—hosted by Lil Miss Hot Mess.
Hosted by One Institute, California LGBT Arts Alliance, Drag Arts Lab, and Drag Story Hour as part of the Being Human Festival (US), supported by the National Humanities Art Center
Part of the , running April 17–May 3, "Living Legends of Drag: Stories of LGBTQ+ Artistry & Culture" is one of 23 community events across the country supported by the National Humanities Center. This festival celebrates the humanities’ power to add depth and meaning to our lives, help us understand ourselves and one another, and provide context for the complex world around us.
