Living Language Writing Workshop: translating real life into fiction
About this Event
We all have a story inside us to tell. Even if it is something highly fictional, there is often an element of our own experience woven into the words. This workshop explores how fiction is an essential way to talk about living moments that can be brought to the page.
Whether it is something challenging we need to talk about or a way to celebrate the mundane moments, the workshop will share techniques on how to focus in, expand and express how to take real life experience and translate it to practice. There will be generative methods and techniques to open your senses and allow the personal to arrive safely to the page. All languages welcome! The workshop will be facilitated in English but we encourage people to write in all languages
Kyla Bourgh is author and illustrator of “French Ending- Un fin Française” a book about her time at a residency in France, the stories chronicle her attempts to learn French and her connections with a group of artists and writers while there.
