Set in Depression-era Chicago Steal Away is a lively farce by Ramona King directed by Eleanore Tapscott. This spirited play follows five church ladies on a mission to change the lives of young Black women by raising money for college. But when their latest beneficiary Tracy is rejected for a loan she proposes a radical solution: rob a bank.
Blending humor with heart Steal Away showcases the strength and resilience of Black women as they fight for education and equality. With sharp social commentary and slapstick comedy the play will have you laughing and cheering for these brave women as they take on the criminal underworld in a surprising twist.
