Held in conjunction with Phillips’ solo exhibition at Artspace Warehouse, this engaging afternoon offers a behind-the-canvas look at her bold, tactile process as she builds a painting through thick, impasto strokes and buoyant blocks of color—marks that begin with an open, energetic scatter and gradually settle into a cohesive, satisfying arrangement.

Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Phillips brings a distinctly vibrant visual language to abstraction, shaped by her background in graphic design and her BA in Art History from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Drawing inspiration from the Mediterranean and Southern California landscapes where she spent her childhood, she channels a philosophy of “color is life,” using upbeat palettes, repetition, and carefully placed gestures to create work that feels both structured and expressive.
