Stockton native Ron Meza began playing trumpet at age 8 and was mentored early on by the influential music educator Mel Won. He went on to study jazz performance at San José State University, later training with legendary trumpeters Claude Gordon and Uan Rasey. After moving to Los Angeles, Ron performed with the LA Jazz Workshop alongside top studio musicians, then relocated to Paris where he became a key figure in the world music and jazz scenes. He toured internationally with artists such as Salif Keita and Mory Kanté, performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and founded the Paris Jazz Orchestra. Returning to the U.S., Ron built a career in film, TV, and as a jazz clinician, giving masterclasses across Europe and the U.S. Over his career, he has collaborated with renowned musicians including Donald Byrd, Carlos Santana, Branford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, and the Four Tops.The Haggin's 1st & 3rd Thursday late-night events vary from special guests to live music and everything in between. These evenings, hosted by the Junior Women’s Group, are perfect for a night out with friends or a date! Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, beginning at 6:30 PM, as you socialize with friends before the program starts at 7 PM. For your shopping pleasure you will also find the Haggin Museum Store open.
1st & 3rd Thursday late-night programing is included with regular admission prices:
$8 Adults (ages 18-64)
$7 Seniors (ages 65+) & Military
$5 Youth (ages 10-17) & Students (with school ID)
Free admission for:
Haggin Museum Members
Children under age 10, accompanied by an adult
First Saturday of the month
Unless otherwise stated, all 1st & 3rd Thursday programs are included with regular museum admission. The museum and store are open until 9 PM. Seating at events varies and is limited to ensure the safety of visitors and the museum’s collection.
