Doug Burgess (www.instagram.com/creativehandsglass) is an Indigenous artist and educator (Haida, Dakota, Grand Ronde) whose work is inspired by the Haida art and traditions of his upbringing in Hydaburg, Alaska.
After discovering glass through Hilltop Artists in Tacoma, he continued his studies at Pilchuck Glass School and the Corning Museum of Glass.
His work has been exhibited throughout the Pacific Northwest and he currently teaches at Hilltop Artists, where he helps young people develop confidence, teamwork, and creativity through glassmaking.
Doug's work combines contemporary glass techniques with cultural traditions, storytelling, and a deep connection to community.
