The Moshannon Valley Detention Center is a for-profit immigrant detention center operated by the GEO group corporation. Reports of mistreatment, inadequate medical care, retaliation and a lack of transparency have raised serious concerns.
The bus will depart from West Mt Airy from the corner of Wayne Ave and Johnson St. Please arrive no later than 7:45 AM. The bus will depart promptly at 8:00 AM. You may park at the parking lot of the Unitarian Society of Germantown (USG) church parking lot (GPS address 359 W. Johnson St, between Greene St and Wayne Ave, go all the way to the end of the driveway for the lot). You may also park on the street. We will arrive at Moshannon at 1:00 PM, and the vigil will start then. The bus is expected return to Philadelphia at 7:00 PM.
Upon arrival onsite, we will stand united in prayer, public witness, and peaceful community action. There will be talks from faith leaders, testimony from family members of those detained, and uplifting music.
