Join us at Bonsai Northwest for a special live bonsai demonstration with Pacific Northwest artist Tony Fajarillo. Tony will style a tree from the historic Terayama Family collection, sharing how he evaluates the material, envisions its structure, and executes the wiring and styling process for our climate.
In this session you'll learn:
• How Tony reads the trunk, branch options and movement to plan a design
• Wiring techniques for structure vs. refinement
• Seasonal timing for Zone 8 (wet winters, dry mild summers)
• Aftercare for styled conifers in the Pacific Northwest
Who it’s for:
Curious beginners, study‑group regulars, and anyone who loves great bonsai material and wants to see an expert’s decision‑making in real time.
Logistics:
• Cost: Free—this is a public demo and everyone is welcome.
• When: Saturday, September 27, 2025, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM PT (doors open 10:30).
• Where: Bonsai Northwest, 10716 State Route 162 E, Puyallup, WA 98374.
• Seating: First‑come, first‑served; RSVP here on Facebook to help us plan.
• Recording: We’re planning to record and live‑stream parts of the demo on Instagram.
• Bonus sessions: Tony will also be available at Bonsai Northwest on Sept 19 and Sept 25 for one‑on‑one styling/wiring appointments ($85/hour plus materials). Contact 206‑242‑8244 or [email protected] to schedule a slot.
• Tree reveal: Tony hasn’t picked the exact tree yet—expect a surprise selection from the Terayama collection!
• Parking: On‑site lot; overflow street parking nearby.
