Celebrating 20 Years! The Shops at La Cantera
Live Catrina Showcase Saturday September 13

From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday September 13 Center Court at The Shops at La Cantera will host a vibrant cultural and fashion experience honoring two decades of style tradition and community in San Antonio as the center celebrates 20 years!

Guests will enjoy a “Sweets and See” experience with churros and ice-cold “paletas” a public photo booth DJ music and a limited photo opportunity with the Live Catrinas from 3 to 3:30 p.m.

The live Catrina showcase will unveil the Catrina Cantera a powerful new design by Araminta Romero cultural ambassador and founder of iLaCatrina. According to Romero the inspiration for the Catrina Cantera came from the soft beige tone of Cantera stone and the legacy of San Antonio’s missions.

Following the unveiling a three Catrina presentation from the Inspiring Heritage collection will honor the colors and meaning of the Mexican flag. The presentation will be accompanied by live music from San Antonio’s beloved Mariachi Vargas and a special performance by tenor Kevin Arratia of Austin.

Since its opening in September 2005 The Shops at La Cantera has evolved into not only a shopping mecca but a community center hosting frequent pop-up events reflective of the diverse local regional and international cultures it serves. And it was recently named the best shopping center in the country by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
