This in-person workshop has been designed specifically for podiatry practices to support podiatrists and their practice support teams, meet the infection, prevention and control obligations set by the Podiatry Board of Australia.
Delivered by experienced practitioners and industry experts, this practical workshop focuses on real-world compliance, moving beyond theory to provide clear, achievable solutions you can implement immediately.
Content includes:
Infection, prevention and control requirements for podiatry practice
Infection control compliance requirements in a podiatry setting set by the Podiatry Board of Australia and referencing the NHMRC Infection, Prevention Control Guidelines and Standards Australia AS5369 (new 2023)
Practical compliance strategies for clinical, mobile, and nonclinical settings
Sterilisers, washer disinfectors, and validation requirements
How to meet your obligations if you are sterilising instruments at home or in nonclinical environments
This workshop is ideal for podiatrists, practice support teams and allied health assistants. APodA members can register their practice team members (the APodA member must register and attend) as part of their staff training to ensure all staff have a consistent understanding of the requirements and can support the infection control protocols in the practice to ensure strong compliance.
Besides the benefit of shared learning with your practice staff, this in-person local event also offers the opportunity to connect with local podiatry peers, share experiences, ask questions, and gain insight into local suppliers and services that support infection control compliance in your area.
Learning outcomes
Understand current infection prevention and control regulatory and professional requirements for podiatry practice
Identify your legal obligations and those of your practice staff (eg: sharps injuries)
Apply practical infection control solutions within clinical, mobile, and nonclinical settings
Demonstrate an understanding of sterilisation, washer disinfection, and validation requirements (eg: water testing)
Recognise what is required to remain compliant when sterilising instruments outside a traditional clinical environment (eg: sterilising at home)
Support safer practice systems and improved infection control governance within the workplace (eg: documentation)
