Join us for our litter pick on Sunday 29 March at 11am, and be a #Litter Hero!The Great British Spring Clean is just around the corner!
This year it is running from 13 to 29 March 2026. This nationwide movement is all about coming together to clean up our streets, parks, and beaches - making our communities greener, safer, and more beautiful.
Litter-picking is a simple action that anyone can do. It makes an immediate and visible difference to the environment where we live, work and play,

This time we will be litter picking on Bewcastle Road and area. Next time it will be somewhere else. We welcome the ideas and suggestions of residents. Please get involved – we can’t do it without you! Experienced litter pickers and newcomers equally welcome.
We will meet at 11am the Parish Council planters at the corner of Bewcastle Road and Muirfield Road (Rise Park / Bestwood).

Please gather by the planters on the corner by the Parish Council Planters on the junction of Bewcastle Road and Muirfield Road. Look for the red Astra.
I will be providing verbal and written safety information and litter picking advice. Children are very welcome provided they are accompanied by a parent or responsible adult who will remain responsible for their supervision and safety at all times.
I will come with litter pickers for you to borrow plus blue rubbish bags to put the litter in. Please dress for the weather and can everyone wear closed-toe strong shoes. I will also have a limited supply of protective gloves but it would be very helpful if you could bring your own garden gloves. I will also have a supply of hi-vis vests but again, if you can bring your own that would be great.
