LiterNatura! A Writing Workshop and Seed Exchange
About this Event
LiterNatura! is a writing workshop, seed and plant exchange that invites participants to explore the landscapes of memory and personal geography via the plants that have raised and and saved them.
Workshop designed and facilitated by Alba Sereno for Homelands Festival.
Participants in LiterNatura! will view writing examples at the nexus of literature, nature and memoir, enjoy writing exercises that help them express their own relationships with plantcestors across the geographies of their lifetime, and will be invited to be part of a joyous seed and plant exchange. In this way, we’ll forge stronger ties to each other, our more than human relatives and the lands we steward together here in Houston, TX!
Optional: Participants may contribute their writing from the workshop or plant knowledge to a History Harvest, recording their contributions into a digital archive that is part of a greater project to preserve and disseminate plant knowledge, from across cultures and geographies, beyond the constraints of knowledge keeping about the natural world created by colonial constructs.
Materials for this workshop will be available in English and Spanish.

ABOUT HOMELANDS FESTIVAL
Homelands is a week-long celebration of the many stories, traditions, and relationships that connect us to one another. Taking place across Houston October 17 - 24, 2026, the festival brings together artists, neighbors, and families to explore what we carry with us, what we inherit, and how we create a sense of home together.
Homelands was created to honor these inheritances and to make space for the many ways people build connection. Through art, music, food, storytelling, workshops, and collective gatherings, the festival invites us to honor home not only as a place we come from, but something we build together.
