Linocut printmaking workshop

We are Floating Art, an independent arts company who have been running pop up art workshops in Manchester for more than 7 years.

Our founder and only teacher Ula will guide you to create your own piece of linocut and get creative with printing in a variety of colours and styles.

We will bring along a selection of reference pictures for your inspiration, from stunning scenery, animals to fabulous flowers, you're sure to find an image you'll love. You are also welcome to bring your sketchbook or pictures as you prefer. And our teacher will share some tips to you to make sure you can safely handle the carving of your design.

At the beginning of the workshop you will use either our references or your own to design your own original print. We don't recommend copying from the reference directly as creating something that it completely your own will be extremely fulfilling.

Ula will be by your side to provide guidance and answer any questions you might have, so don't worry if it's your first time trying an art class. This beginner-friendly experience is great if you're looking for fun group activities to enjoy with loved ones or even a class to mix with some like-minded others and potential new friends.

At the end of your workshop, you'll get the chance to step back and admire your finished piece as you socialise with the group. You'll head home with your artwork and maybe even a new hobby that you can try out in the future.

This workshop is located at Northern Monk Refectory in their Cellar Bar where food & Drink will be available before, during and after the workshop. Barista Coffee is available too.
This room is not accessible for wheelchair users.

Knowledge required

• Beginner friendly - all levels welcome.

Materials (all provided)

• Lino block, printing inks on papers.

What you'll get:

• All of the equipment and materials needed for your class

• Protective equipment such as aprons.

What to bring

• Comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little paint on.

• A carrying bag for take your artworks home.
