The Society of Orpheus and Bacchus
Winter Tour 2026

Link Centre Concert Hall, Tupelo
On Halloween night in 1938, twelve of the sweetest voices at Yale converged on Mory’s Temple Bar in New Haven, Connecticut, to form a performance group unlike any other. Inspired by Orpheus, the prophetic bard of Greek mythology, and Bacchus, the god of revelry and celebration, the group dedicated itself to bringing beautiful music and great spirit wherever they went.
The Society of Orpheus and Bacchus (SOBs) is the second-oldest collegiate a cappella group in the United States, and over the past 87 years, has developed an expansive self-composed repertoire that spans barbershop, jazz, blues, pop, and original comedy numbers. Each performance blends musical excellence with humor and showmanship, ensuring every concert is engaging, memorable, and uniquely entertaining.
The SOBs have performed around the world—from the White House to the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, from the Caribbean shores of Aruba to venues across the United States.
The current group consists of nineteen Yale students (fifteen of whom will be on this tour), representing a wide range of cultural, academic, and musical backgrounds. Since welcoming its first female member in 2019, the SOBs have proudly maintained their tenor-bass roots while fostering a diverse and inclusive ensemble.
