Linger – A Live Performance of Voice, Guitar & Movement
Three performers — Chris Glennin, Cobus Wiese and Abigail Wiese — use voice, guitar and movement to listen and respond to one another, taking inspiration from the rhythmic and percussive sounds of O’Toole’s Voices from the Void.
Rather than following a set script, the performance unfolds in the moment. Sounds inspire movement, movement shapes rhythm and voices respond to what they hear and feel. Linger invites audiences to slow down, listen closely and experience what happens when we pause and stay with a sound, sensation or feeling a little longer.
Developed through two experimental and improvisational workshops, the performance is an evolving encounter between bodies, sounds and listeners — offering a space to pause, connect and see what emerges.
About Voices from the Void
The exhibition features nine drums, displayed as wall hanging objects, that when approached, begin to vibrate and produce a sine wave.
The drum skins, painted black, act as a void drawing focus to the sound which is being projected; singing to the audience and harmonising with the other drums, the room becomes an instrument and the audience the players.
This interactive installation is an invitation to connect, play and collaborate through sound and movement.
