About this Event
In this talk we will discover how archaeology and archaeobotany can help us to understand the flora and design of gardens in Roman London.
We will explore the environmental landscape of Londinium and find out what plants grew in a Roman garden and their historic, cultural or medicinal significance.
Plus, take a look at some reconstructed Roman gardens and the influence of this period on our parks and gardens today.
There will be plenty of time to ask questions, plus join us for a drinks reception after the conversation where you can explore the RHS Lindley Library's collection.

Speaker
Dr Sadie Watson - Sadie is an archeologist working at MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology). She recently worked on The Roman Gardens of Londinium, a community research project which used archaeobotanical evidence to lead discussions and creative activities with people from Hackney.

Doors open at 6.00pm, with the conversation beginning at 6.30pm.
Tickets for this event are required, with the ticket cost supporting the RHS Lindley Library. Some tickets will be available on the door. RHS membership not required.
